Show Coverage Of Girls Sports It was mentioned in last week's edition that Dave Wigham is being asked to report on the girls high school sports events in the area. COVERAGE of girls sports will be a welcome change; however, I feel you would be doing your readers a favor by having this subject covered by someone with a real interest and love for girls' sports. Here are a few facts about the volleyball season. Woods Cross, a young team with three juniors, five sophomores and two freshmen fresh-men finished their season in second place and placed sixth in the 3A State Tournament at BYU. Woods Cross had the distinction of giving Box Elder, 3A state champion, their only defeat of the season. THE big upset in the 4A tournament at the University of Utah came when the Bountiful Boun-tiful team defeated first seated seat-ed Clearfield 20-14, 20-13. The Braves placed sixth and Viewmont fourth. These are some of the Interesting aspects of our local girls sports. Let's hope for more support from the community and better coverage in the news media. An exciting basketball season is just beginning. Shirley Ross |
