Show Legion Disclaims Any Tie-Up With Utah Publication j The following resolution was 1 unanimously passed at the recent re-cent convention of the American Legion, Department of Utah. It was prepared under the direction di-rection of Francis McKinley, Ft. Duchesne post member, who was chairman of the resolutions committee: WHEREAS, The American Legion, Department of Utah, no District or Post of the Department Depart-ment has any connection what-so-ever with the publication, "The Utah Veteran", and WHEREAS, this publication has been a sorce of embarrassment embarrass-ment to the American Legion because of the manner of advertising ad-vertising solicitation by means of a renewal notice sent to the majority of business firms in the State of Utah, and WHEREAS, the implication has been left that this publication publica-tion has the endorsement of the American Legion and other recognized re-cognized veterans organizations. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the American Legion, Department of Utah in Annual Convention assembled this 24th, 25th and 26th days of June 1954, at Ogden, Utah, do go on record as condeming these practice of the publisher of "The Utah Veteran". BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we cooperate with the other reicognied veterans organizations organi-zations in publicizing this action. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be sent tothe various Chambers of Commerce and Junior Chambers of Commerce in Utah, to the Better Business Bureau at Salt Lake City and the Commanders of the recognized veterans organizations. organ-izations. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that all state newspapers and other civic groups be so notified. |
