Dillman, prominent- Roosevelt attorney, churchman, civic and political leader, filed his candidacy for election last week as judge of the Fourth Judicial District, which comprises com-prises Utah, Wasatch, Duchesne and Uintah counties. His declaration declar-ation indicated he will oppose Incumbent Judge R. L. Tuckett of Provo. A resident of Roosevelt since 1914, Mr. Dillman was born in Vernal, and took his LLB degree at the University of Utah and attended the University Univer-sity of Chicago law school. He was the first county attorney for Duchesne County, a position posi-tion he held several terms. He has long been recognized as one of the Wests' leading authorities on water and oil litigation. One of the sponsors of the Moon Lake Water project, Mr. Dili-man Dili-man was a member of the Utah Water Storage Commission and assisted in many other water development projects in the West. Mr. Dillman served the Uintah Uin-tah Basin as a member of the State Senate several years, his service there being climaxed in 1933 when he was chosen president pres-ident of the body. He was also a candidate on the Republican ticket for governor at one time. Since his retirement from politics pol-itics Mr. Dillman served seven years as a member of the State Board of Education, and was a Utah State Agricultural College trustee for eight years. Long Church Record Approximately three months ago Mr. Dillman and his wife returned from Denver, where he had served nearly five years as president of the Western West-ern States Mission. Prior to his call as mission president, he had served as Roosevelt stake president, and bishop of the Roosevelt ward. " Passes Resolution At a recent meeting of the Uintah Bar Association, a resolution reso-lution was unanimously, passed, endorsing Mr. Dillman "to be a candidate from the Uintah Basin Ba-sin for the office of District Judge. The members of the bar from Duchesne, Uintah and Wasatch Counties felt that in ' all fairness one judge should come from that area. That such ' judge be given special assignment assign-ment to care for court matters ' there, with any surplus time assigned as-signed to Utah County. There I are at present three judges, and the District Attorney, all 'com- I ing from, and. being in Utah County.
