Bob Sather will occupy the corner of the building with his new jewelry store. Mrs. Emma L. Wimmer of Neola was honored on her 83rd birthday anniversary at a family dinner on July 25 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Xavier Bellon. Jay Horrocks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theron .Horrocks of Neola has returned home after completing com-pleting a navy cruise to the Galapagos Islands. 10 Years Ago To obtain clothing for Russian civilians, left destitute by German Ger-man plunder, and whose needs are mounting daily as the Russian Rus-sian armies liberate more and more cities and many thousands of civilians once held under bondage by the German armies, the Russian Relief society will organize a week-long statewide drive for secondhand clothes and shoes. The drive will be held in Utah August 7 to 12 inclusive, under the sponsorship of the Utah Council of Defense, the American Legion, Department of Utah, and the American Legion Le-gion Auxiliary. Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Rudy of Salt Lake City are visiting here during their vacation with Mr. Rudy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Czar Rudy. 20 Years Ago The famous national champion band from Carbon County arrived ar-rived at Ft. Duchesne, Tuesday evening in full strength, with the same pep and enthusiasm which was displayed by them when they carried away highest honors at the national high school band contest which was held at Evanston, Illinois April 10, 11, and 12, 1933. Derold Simmons was judged to be the best saxophone player; Johnnie Cook placed in first division, Jack Owens, Lee Empey, Harry Clark and Cecil Christensen all won places in the second and third division. Jack Harmston, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Harmston, entertained en-tertained a few of his friends Saturday in honor of his fifth birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Allen, Ruth Burgess and Nathan Allen, returned home Monday from an extended trip to Yellowstone Park, Glacier National, into Canada, along the coast to Seattle Se-attle and Portland and back by the Colmubia highway. |
