Show ALERT unit in Cedar City supplements accident reporting ALERT. .Affiliated League of Emergency Radio Teams of Utah. Incorporated has begun a new team in Cedar Citv, stated Mae Ewell, Salt Lake City ALERT representative. Board of Trustees. ALERT was established on January 1. 1975 as a Citizen Band. Class D Tran-ceiver Tran-ceiver Monitoring and Mobil Reporting Team. The purpose of ALERT is to monitor emergency Channel nine and any other frequency that is carrying an emergency transmission; tran-smission; rendering assistance motorists and reporting to the proper authorities, any accidents or threat of life and-or safety of any individual and-or property. Mac Ewell appointed Harvey Foster Willis, Cedar City Cab Company Driver to the ALERT position in Cedar City. The Team are required to own at least one transceiver and volunteer their time and equipment for at least twelve hours per week. Each member is required to operate his tranceiver in accordance with Rules and Regulations covering Class D Radio com- munications, Federal and Local. , Each member is also required to . have an up to date Class D license. This national orgainzation has 600 teams through-out the United States with 12000-15000 members. It is non-profit organization to help with all emergencies. j Teams in Utah include, I Vernal, Salt Lake City, Richfield, j and Cedar City. Cedar City has 10 members now and hopes to expand to 100 members; in- j terested persons with CB radios can participate. ALERT teams register all CB j radios with serial numbers reported to the local authorities, newsletter publication "ALERT , 44" which is published three times a year; and Utah ALERT blood bank with the Red Cross.
