I About The $ UINTAH-OURAY INDIAN RESERVATION ' A regular meeting of the mixed-blood mixed-blood group of the Ute Indian tribe was held Nov. 12, in the recreation hall at Fort Duchesne. A report of the Planning Board was made by the new chairman, Lorena D. Iorg, and after discussions discus-sions held concerning future per capita payments and hunting and fishing on the reservation the meeting adjourned. Cake and punch were served to the group by Roslind Denver, Doris Ignacio and Elizabeth Baumgarner. Darrell' E. William, Harriet Tav-eapont Tav-eapont and Lorena D. Iorg spent last week on business for the tribe, visiting several of the tribal members livins off the reservation. Salt Lake, Murray, Ogden, Tooele, Grantsville and Richfield were visited. vis-ited. A . Police School for all duly constituted law officers in the Uintah Uin-tah Basin will be held at Fort Duchesne Du-chesne Nov. 17 and 18, and to be conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Some of the topics top-ics to be discussed will be, Utah State Laws adopted on the reservation, reser-vation, report writing, scientific laboratory aids, homicide investigations inves-tigations and review and techniques and mechanics of arrest. - An invitation has been mailed to all law officers in Duchesne and Uintah counties as well as local attorneys by the Law and Order Division of the Ute Indian tribe. The old jail at the agency has been put into use again, as the new jail could not accomodate the many people who have been privileged priv-ileged to serve a sentence imposed by the tribal court. We are happy to see Mrs. Norma Denver back home again after spending the past two weeks in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake, where she underwent major surgery. sur-gery. The Elmer Danver, Jr. family fam-ily wishes to extend appreciation to all those who donated blood for Norma. , Mr. and Mrs. Alvin "Sonny" Denver were business visitors at the agency last Monday. Mr" and Mrs. Keri LaRose, of Altamont, were weekend guests of the Ellis Denver family of Indian Bench. |
