Show Parents Come To School Nov. 9 Wednesday, Nov. 9, the school busses ran as usual, but it was the parents who boarded the busses bus-ses and came to school instead of the children. The occasion was Parents' Day at Altamont High and Elementary Schools conducted conduct-ed as a part of National. Education Educa-tion Week. The school day began with an assembly in the muisc room, where parents were made acquainted with policies of the schools by Principals Harmon and Swallow; followed by a report on the aims and standards of the school lunch program by Mrs. Redding. Red-ding. The Mt. Emmons Ladies' Chorus sang a number under the direction of Mrs. Rita Hansen, and a vocal trio was rendered by Cor-een Cor-een Cook, Mrs. Birdie Swasey and Eva Swasey. Following the assembly, parents visited each teacher and classroom in the order of their children's regular schedules; and conferred with the respective guidance counselors. coun-selors. At noon, a regular school lunch in the cafeteria was enjoyed by teachers and patrons. The parents who attended were thrilled with the facilities of the Elementary and High schools, and enjoyed a busy and profitable though sometimes bewildering day at school. Mr. and Mrs. Anthon Rust spent Nov. 16 and 17 in Salt Lake on business. Their son, Blake, spent most of last week visiting with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. LeGrande Mecham in Mt. Home. Moon Lake stake MIA executives execu-tives met at the Mt. Emmons ward last week to set dates for the Gold , and Green Balls, and the drama festivals. VARIETY CLUB MEETS Mrs. Muriel Kolb was hostess to the Variety Club Thursday, Nov. 10. The business part of the meeting meet-ing was conducted by Pres. Lois LaRose, who read the by-laws, and the names of present members. The financial report was given by Mrs. Louise Bearden, after which new officers were voted in. Mrs. Edna Hartman will be president and Mrs. Dorothy Farnsworth is the new secretary of the club. Games were enjoyed by Mrs. Louise Bearden, Anna Hartman, Lois LaRose, Rhea Lambert, Alma Young, Muriel Kolb, Barbee Buchanan, Bu-chanan, Dorthy Farnsworth, Edna Hartman and June Harmon. Rita Hansen won the door prize for early attendance. Refreshments were served by the hostess. ": Louis Reese and sons "Jack and Walker, from Salt Lake, visited with the Jewel Kolbs. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Stanley and granddaughter, Jeanie, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hamberg. Cecil and Carol Hamberg were home for a visit also. RELIEF SOCIETY STAKE BOARD MEETS A special Relief Society meeting of the stake was held Saturday, Nov. 12. under the direction of Mrs. Edith Burton, stake Relief Society work director. Mrs. Jennie Brotherson, of Boneta, Mrs. Roz-ella Roz-ella Goodrich of Bluebell, and Margaret Mar-garet Maxfield of Altonah, who attended the Home Economics Extension Ex-tension week at the Utah State Agricultural College, gave demonstrations demon-strations and reports on their work while in Logan. Mrs. Brotherson Broth-erson treated the subject, "Clothing "Cloth-ing and Fabrics;" Mrs. Goodrich spoke on "Foods," and Mrs. Max-field Max-field gave a report on "Home Management." Suggestions for wrapping Christmas gifts and gift ideas were discussed and Mrs. Brotherson directed a demonstration demonstra-tion on candy making. SENIOR HOP HELD The Senior Hop was held Friday night, Nov. 11 in the enchantment of life "Under the Sea." The beautiful beau-tiful decorations on the theme, "Under the Sea," were done by the senior art students, under the direction of Mrs. Opal Gomm, and students and friends who attended danced to the music of Tal War-die's War-die's orchestra. Dwane Evans was master of ceremonies for the evening. eve-ning. A solo, "The -Loveliest Night of the Year," was sung by Dale Cummings, accompanied by Mrs. Birdie Swasey. Senior class advisors ad-visors at Altamont High School are Mrs. Opal Gomm and Don Nyberg. FFA HAS MEETING Moon Lake Chapter of F.F.A. held a meeting Friday conducted by Pres. Lyle Oman, with Lyle . Gomm asting as secretary in the absence of Donald Durfee. Members Mem-bers were encouraged to pay dues, and it was decided that all members mem-bers who have paid their dues will be admitted to the coming Harvest Ball at half price. At a previous meeting, two candidates for F.F.A. Sweetheart received the same number of votes, so Friday Fri-day a vote was taken to break the tie on the two girls. The chosen Sweetheart and her attendants will be announced at the Harvest Ball, which wil be held Nov. 25. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Nebeker of Randlett and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Nebeker of Odgen spent Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Miles. |
