Show LeetonBennett Fern Houston Dies At 88 Charles Elliott, a resident of Bennett for 44 years, passed away at -the Vernal Hospital Sunday, Nov. 5, at the age of 88 years. Surviving are two sons and two daughters. Graveside services were held at Randl'ett under the direction direc-tion of the Vernal Mortuary. Mer-vin Mer-vin C. and Charles Bolton acted as pallbearers. . Bill Cook was a guest at the Lynn Haslem home for the pheasant pheas-ant hunt. Mr. Cook is a Salt Lake patrolman, and is a brother-in-law of Clair Haslem. There were many hunters in this area. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Stringham of American Fork were overnight visitors at the Clair Haslem home, Wednesday. Mr. Singleton was here to attend the Winterton Bros, cattle auction sale. Dell Timothy and family visited in this area for the pheasant hunt. They were guests at the Floyd Harmston heme. Mrs. W. H. Coltharp was called to the home of her sister in Oakland, Oak-land, Calif, on account of the passing pass-ing of Snell Miller. While there Mr. Coltharp had a slight stroke and Mrs. Coltharp flew back, accompanied ac-companied by her sister, Mrs. Johnny Sur, of San Francisco. Mr. Coltharp is very much improved, and Mrs. Sur has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lindley of Provo, were weekend guests at the J. A. Houston home. The four daughters of Ray Houston were at the home of their grandmother, while their parents were in Ogden attending the stock show. Speakers at Sacrament meeting Sunday were Robert Jensen, Ray Smith and James Bacon. Sunday the family of Clair Haslem Has-lem were all present at the dinner given by Mrs. Haslem, as Bill was home from school' at the U. of U. of the weekend. QUILTING AT CHURCH Tuesday, a quilting party was held at the church. A very nice lunch was served. The quilt was for the Bennett Relief Society. Mrs. Isobel Harmston and Mrs. Rosabella Morrison of Roosevelt helped as guests. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Houston took some 4-H Club children to Ogden for the stock judging and cattle show. Ray is a 4-H Club leader and thought this year the show was extra good.. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Nelson, of Price, were at the home of Carl Hall, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Morrell were Sunday visitors at the Win-fred Win-fred Long home. . Friday was Parents' Day at Al-terra. Al-terra. Thosa attending from here were Delma Long' Aurdy Taylor, Carma Jenkins, Virginia Houston, Betty Bolton and Mr. "and Mrs. Harry Longhair. Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Stringham were visitors at the W. H. Coltharp home Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Haslem, Chas. and Byron Bolton attended the farewell testimonial given for Miss Myrtle Colling Sunday evening at Ballard. She is leaving for Brazil. Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jensen were visitors at the Gerold Bolton home. Duane Knoble and boys and Bill Calder were hunting guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Jenkins. Jen-kins. They were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Nellie Whitlock and Leslie Taylor. |
