Show -Arcadia By Mrs. Merle Ross Boy Shot While Pheasant Hunting Alonzo Lee. the 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Lee of Garfield, Gar-field, was wounded seriously while pheasant hunting here Friday afternoon, af-ternoon, when his shotgun acci-dently acci-dently discharged. The boy was entering en-tering an automobile when his .410 gauge shotgun went off. He was struck in the side and a lung was punctured. Emergency treatment was given him at the Roosevelt Hospital and he was later transferred trans-ferred to the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Mower and sons, of Provo, were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milt Larsen during the pheasant hunt. ATTEND STOCK SHOW - Gale Larsen, along with the other oth-er members of the judging team, accompanied County Agent Bobi Murdock to Ogden to attend the stock show. Mr. and Mrs. Cal Cook and family and Mr. and Mrs. Alma Richens and family, of Salt Lake City, spent the weekend with their grandmother, Mrs. Cynthia Larsen. The Priesthood and Relief So-city So-city convention in Duchesne, was attended by Pres. and Mrs. Hale Holgate, Mr. and Mrs. John Gilbert, Gil-bert, Bishop Gam Gilbert, Thomas and Rulon Gilbert, Stanley Ross, Irvin Johnson, Mrs. Laverna Lusty, Ida and Marva Mae Horrocks. Vera Larsen, Arlene Gilbert and Cecelia Gilbert. Mr. and Mrs. Arch Larsen are spending a few days in Meeker, Colo. FOUR GENERATIONS SEE BABY BLESSED Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Shields' new son was blessed Sunday and given the name of Joseph Wayne. Four generations were present for the occasion, the new lad, Joseph Wayne, his father, Joseph, grandfather, grand-father, Wanless Shields of Bridge-land, Bridge-land, and great-grandfather, Marvin Mar-vin Shields of Arcadia. R. S. Lusty and son, Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Arden Evans and son. Fred, attended the stock show in Ogden. This has always been considered one of the choice pheasant hunting areas. This year fewer hunters have been in. Don't know if it was the lack of birds, too plentiful wardens, or just the plain nasty weather. HOLGATE GUESTS Sharon Holgate came in from Salt Lake to visit his parents, Pres. and Mrs. Hale Holgate. Friends that came with him for the pheasant hunt were Bishop and Mrs. Edmond Fehr;, Pres. and Mrs. John Utley, Dr. S. L. Wright, ! Mr. and Mrs. Ben Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Stan Bogden. The entire party were dinner guests Saturday evening of Pes. and Mrs. Holgate. All the group returned to Salt Lake with the exception of Dr. Wright, Ben Brown, President Utley and Sharon. They remained as guests and continued con-tinued their hunt, which proved very successful. The small son, Terry Chad, of Mr. and Mrs. Chad Evans, is showing show-ing some improvement; at least he is gaining a little in weight. Mrs. Max Mullins and children, of Salt Lake City are spending some time at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Gilbert. Mr. Mullins, an employee of Safeways, is out on strike. Forrest and Kenneth Ivie, of Strawberry, were the guest speakers speak-ers as Sacrament meeting Sunday night. Dr T F Smith nnrl Gilhert Hnr- rocks, of Duchesne, were callers at the Thomas M. Gilbert home during the pheasant season. Mr. and Mrs. Gwen Bodily and son, Merrill, and Norman Bodily, of Salt Lake City, were weekend guests at the home of Mrs. Bod-ily's Bod-ily's mother, Mrs. Merle Ross. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Shields enjoyed a visit with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wanless Shields of Bridgeland. (LATE FOR LAST WEEK) i Pres. and Mrs Hale Holgate at tended Relief Society conference in Tabiona, Sunday night. Delmer Rosse accompanied Howard How-ard Smith to Salt Lake, Tuesday. He will enter the Veterans'. Hospital, Hos-pital, where he will have some surgery done on his injured leg. It will probably necessitate some bone grafting. Preparations are underway for Old Man Winter, as evidenced by the amount of coal and wood being stored up. Jack Gilbert has made several trips to Nine Mile after coal; Lynn Lamar Ross, Fred Evans Ev-ans and Clarence Horrocks were among some of the wood haulers. Beverly 01 sen took her grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. Minnie Pace, to Vernal Ver-nal one day during the week to visit Mr. and Mrs. Gail Eldredge. Naomi Gilbert attended the speech and hearing clinic held at Union High School. Mrs. Byron Gilbert and children accompanied Howard Gilbert to Provo after a visit with her husband's hus-band's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gilbert. Mrs. John Richens and daughter, daugh-ter, Donna, left Friday for Layton to attend the wedding of her sister. sis-ter. Hope Montgomery, and John M. Adams. Hope formerly lived here. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Shields and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Shields were in attendance at Court in Duchesne, Wednesday. Mrs. May Shields, a member of the stake Relief Society board, visited vis-ited the Duchesne Relief Society, Tuesday. Need for an opportunity to do some welfare work required in their classes resulted in the Mia Maids and Jr. Gelaner girls doing some much-needed work at the church house. The i .
