Show EIRE AT SCHOOL FOR DEAE AID GUI' -1 DAMAGE A fire which occurred at the State School for the Deaf and Blind at 5:40 p. m., yesterday caused considerable consid-erable excitement when its location became known. The fire occurred In the basement of the dormitory at the rear of' the main building of the school, in the room where the kindling kindl-ing wood is stored. The department was called and extinguishing ex-tinguishing the blaze, which had been virtually brought under control by students and officials of tho school before tho firemen arrived. The cause of the fire was thought to have been a lighted match carelessly care-lessly thrown into the woodpile by one of the students, but fortunately it was confined to tho one room and aside from the loosening of some of the plaster on the walls and ceiling and some of the wood, there was little lit-tle damage. ' The occurrence, however, showed to good advantage tho discipline of the students, all of the younger ones marching out of the building and some of the oldor ones giving their assistance in fighting the fire. oo |
