Show MAJOR PUTT IS PLACED IN JAIL j Naco Authorities Revolt Against Prefect Great Ex- I citement Prevails in Sonora. Naco, Sonora, Mexico, March 20. Major Piatt, prefect of the Cananea-Arlzpec-Naco district, is in jail here as the result of his demand last night for the surrender to him or the Naco Cuartcl. Immediately upon his arrival, Piatt made his demand, which, he asserted, was his right as prefect. M. Martinez, Mar-tinez, collector of customs, led the Naco authorities in a revolt against Plntt and placed the prefect in jail. A guard was placed over the telegraph tele-graph wires leading from Naco to Cananca. as railroad officials expressed express-ed tho fear that they would be cut and the railroad tracks torn up. Much exoitement prevailed here today, to-day, owiug to reports of Increased dissension among state officials. |
