Show TEN COMMANDMENTS FOR THE WOMEN OF OGDEN Ten commandments for women hae been announced by Rev. K L Goodspeed of Oakland. CaL, and here they are "Thou shalt not marry for revenue I only nor for fear of being an old 1 maid. ' After marriage thou shalt not sol far forget thy personal appearance as j to greet thy husband clad In an old wrapper. "Thou shalt not dress so as to fur-j nlsh Jokes for the comic papers Thou shalt not allow they children chil-dren to run wild in the street even j that thou mayst attend the mission 1 , ary meeting "Thou shalt not be jealous of thy neighbor If bhe rides in an auto while thou art compelled to use the trolley car. "Thou shalt not tempt men and boys by serving liquor even If thou callest It punch. Thou shalt not make thev home a place of faultfinding, lest thy husband acquire the habit of thinking that every night Is lodge night "Thou shalt not spell home in any new way, not c l u b nor b-r-i-d g , nor shalt thou confuse matrimony With alimony. 'Thou shalt never aspire to be a man. nor other than a noble woman, for when He made the ideal woman, He stopped because He had reached the summit of creation " Now if the Rev. Goodspeed can put together ten equally good com mandments as applicable to the short comings of men. then both sexes will be Indebted to him for much wholesome whole-some advice in the form of tho i shalt-not shalt-not "Thou shalt not dress so as to furnish fur-nish jokes for the comic papers," IS an excellent injunction There are women in Ogden not very many, but a few who, ns the extremes of fashion, are. in the language or the theatre critic, B stream Evidently 1 here are other places Oakland nt least where some women become possessed of a desire to overdress along the lines of the very latest in fashionable gowns. No one should be jealous of them not even a jenlons woman Thou shalt not marry for revenue ; only, nor for fear of being an old j maid'' is a commandment directed at i foolish girls who fall to understand I that marriage, even to a young man of wealth, is an obligation lnolving uncertainties No girl should relinquish relin-quish her freedom until fully conceived, con-ceived, that the young man of her I choice has thc qualifications of a hus-J baud. No amount of money will com-1 pensate for the defects in a young man who is without refinement and! who is inconsiderate of others, boor lab and intemperate. |
