Show SUFFRAGISTS T0 OPEHAMPAIGN Will Fight to Cut Down Small Democratic Majority in Senate. New York, N. Y.p .March 20. With the exception of Mrs. Harriet Stanton Blatch, president of the "Woman's Political Po-litical Union, the leaders of the organizations or-ganizations engaged In the campaign to enfranchise women today said the vote was just what they had expected. Mrs. Blatch expressed sympathy for the Democratic parly and declared Lhat the vote would result in a fight to cut down the small Democratic majority ma-jority in the senate and to attain this end she would join the congressional congres-sional campaign. Dr. Anna Howard Shaw, president or the National Woman Suffrage association, associa-tion, and Mrs. Carrie Chapman Catt, head of the International Suffrage Alliance, Al-liance, held to the opinion that ii would be bad policy for the suffragists suffra-gists to fight a political party, Dr, Shnw said that this was not the time to expect franchlsement from congress, adding that "we must got the vote in a few more states." rr |
