Show com of iiii is HI EXCELLENT . sraii Despite the bug-boar of 1.8 mills for genoral fund purposes as fixed by tho state legislature Weber county ended the year 1917 very successfully. This 1.8 mills proposition has somewhat some-what hampered plans and development develop-ment work of the county commissioners commission-ers but considering- tho many demands de-mands on county funds and the wnrk which has been accomplished tho result re-sult must bo considered satisfactory'. The county has carried out quito an extensive improvement . plan and it has reduced its bonded Indebtedness 512,000. The county has lost approximately approx-imately $27,500 in revenue through tho full assessment plan enforced by the legislature but it still maintains Its position of distinction as the richest county in the state. Its total yearly rovenue was $886,428 from general taxes. Its bonded Indebtedness Is only $36,000 so this is a very creditable condition. Can Be Paid Easily. This bonded indebtedness of $36,000 can easily be taken up in three years if the county pays the customary an nual iz.uuu, as u nas aone since ayuu when the $80,000 worth of refunding bonds were issued by the county. There is. doubt, howevor, If this will be done as recently there has grown up a considerable demand among progressive progres-sive citizens of the county and the city for the erection of a new municipal munici-pal and county administrative building, build-ing, a city and county building. It is quite generally conceded that tho present pres-ent court houso and the present cityj hall aro entirely inadequate, unmodern and inconvonient for housing the many i offices and departments needed to keep these two divisions of the state of Utah running as they should. It is therefore probable that If tho plan of erecting new administrative buildings is accepted that the fund will not be reduced during the next few years as fast as It has been reduced In the past. But a matter of $36,000 Is a small consideration in face of a proposition of this nature. Efficient Management. Of tho several " institutions maintained main-tained by the county the Infirmary and isolation hospital have shown most remarkable success during the H year 1917.
