The company offices now are located locat-ed at 2349 Grant avenue, but It commenced com-menced business under the firm name of the Utah Knitting company in 100' ,.nd had headquarters at 303 Twenty-I Twenty-I Kith street where the retail clepart- ! ment still is located. That statement ndicales the growth of the business. The company almost immediately xitgrew its original quarters and began be-gan .looking around for a larger and I better site. In 1912. only fivo years after its founding, the company moved I its factory and wholesale department ' to 2173 Grant avenue. And three vears later, these quarters became too M cramped to handle the enormously In- ! creasing volume of orders. Conse- i quently the company now Is occupy- ' Ing all of one of the larger buildings of the city, except a floor occupied by tho Knights of Pythias lodge. The floor spaco occupied by the knitting factory is 22,500 Bquaro feet. It is ono of the largest institutions of its kind between tho Missouri river and San Francisco. In addition to the quick growth of tho company, its store space; ltB importance im-portance generally, here are a few facts relative to this big concern that should bo of interest to the public of the entiro Inter-mountain region. J It employes between fifty and sixty i people, mostly girls, -in the manufacture manufac-ture of the various lines of knit goods. Tho annual payroll is now about $25,-000 $25,-000 and practically every penny of that sum is expended in Ogden. The company has a largo number of salesmen who cover the following states: Utah. Idaho, Colorado, Nevada. Montana Mon-tana and parts of Washington and Oregon. It is only a question of time until California, Arizona, New Mexico and the northern tier of states in old Mexico Mex-ico -will bo added to tho list. C. II. Thorstenson is president of the firm and manager' of tho manufacturing manufactur-ing and wholesale department; G. M. Thorstenson is vice president and manager man-ager of the retail store; Helen Thorns-tensen, Thorns-tensen, Jennie Thorstenson, Neta Thorstenson and Christie Thorstenson, in addition to C. H. and G. M. Thors-tensen Thors-tensen constitute the board of directors. direc-tors. V. II. Laymen is assistant manager man-ager of the wholesalo department, and Edward H, Stone is superintendent of tho manufacturing department. Neither of theso orders were necessary, neces-sary, for everv officer and employe is a firm booster, but they were made "merely to keep tho record straight.
