Show UTAH AUTO CLUB TO ERECT STREET SIGNS First Batch of Official Placards for City Has Been Delivered. Secretary W. D. Rishel of the Utah State Automobile association announced yesterday that tho first batch of road ' signs for the association had reached Salt Iake and that the work of erecting same within the city limits would beg-in this week. These signs are extra large and made of sheet metal and will be attached to existing posts, where possible. In places where no posts are now erected metal . posts will be substituted. Tho big yellow signs, with dark blue lettering, will be placed eight feet above the level of the streets, thus placing them In the line of vision of all motorists. These signs consist of railroad crossing cross-ing signs, hospital signs, danger and slow signals. They are neat and veiy conspicuous and should aid materially in the prevention of accidents within the city limits. A new department has been establinhed by the directors of the association. It is an auditing department and will be in charge of J. B. ycholefleld, an accredited fxuert accountant. It is the idea of the directors that, as soon as this department de-partment Is in fuli working order, any member may call for a statement of the association's finances and get returns re-turns in a few moments. It is believed ! that it will make for both economy and j satisfaction in conducting the business of the organization. In reference to business firms, who I own several cars or a string of trucks, and who desire to become affiliated with tho association and participate in the road and other propaganda work that is contemplated, the dii-ectorate has decided that they come in on the regular fee for tho first car or truck and $5 additional for each additional car or truck. Regulation Regu-lation association radiator insignia, in such cases, will be issued for all vehicles. V. (). Schramm of tho board of directors di-rectors has been assured by the police department that an early effort will bo made to suppress the car driver who uses his muffler cutout as freely as he would a phonograph.
