Show WARNING AGAINST SCRAMBLE FOR POSTS W.VSHINCJTON. Dec. 21. Represents. tivc Fesa of Ohio, chairman of the Republican Re-publican congressional campaign committee, commit-tee, issued a statement today in reference refer-ence to the organization of the next congress con-gress by the Republicans, recalling disastrous dis-astrous results of former differences over party organization and warning against a "scramble for position" now. "The country must await 1020 to place full authority of the government in the keeping of the Republican party," said the statement. "Whether this will be done or not will depend upon how .we use the victory given us by the people. If the house now, in its first opportunity sim-e it has come under control of our party, proceeds to effect an organization upon any ground other than the country's welfare through party solidarity, it will be a serious mistake, too apparent for any comment. "The vote of confidence in the last election, which was emphatic as to its significance, will be as quickly withdrawn as it was given if either personal ambition ambi-tion or factional rivalry be permitted to descend to any bitter scramble for posi-I posi-I tion, either in the speakership or the assignment as-signment of committees. No such consideration con-sideration can be allowed to dictate our first official act." |
