Show FiRESTH COMPANY li BIG VICTORY i ' ! "According to a decision recently hand- ; ed down by the United States court of appeals in Cincinnati," said Manager Kewclt of the local branch, "the Firestone Tire & Rubber company has won a sweep- ing victory, bringing to a, close litigation j which has been in the. courts since itfli. J In that year suit was brought against the ; Firestone Tire & Rubber company by F. i A. Seiberlirig, president of the Goodyear 1 Tire & Rubber company, for infringement ! of alleged basic ratents. These patents , were alleged (o be based on the manu- i faeture of pneumatic tires by machinery, and, therefore, the suit affected not only the Fires rone company, but indirectly all Ukj manufacturers of pneumatic tires and the automobile industry in general. 'Tim scale of royalties demanded by the nl:hii:;Ts amounted to millions of dollars per ye.;ir and would have materially affected af-fected the pries of tires. j "The ires tone company fought liie : ense through tne courts until the present time, when the United Htatcs court of appeals ap-peals reversed the decision of the district court, with instructions to dismiss the i bill. It declared there was no infringe- meat of the Goodyear lire machine patent pat-ent and that the Selberling and Steven and also the State patents were Invalid. "This victory of the Firestone company is much more far-reaching than Its former for-mer victory in the famous Perlman patent pat-ent rim case. It was also an alleged basic patent, which, had it then been decided that it was such, would have demanded a tribute from every automobile manufacturer manu-facturer or owner who used demountable rims on his machine. "In these two hard -fought cases the Fir"stone company is proud of its policy and record in fighting- not only ior its own interests, but also for those of oilier i automobile owners and manufacturers."
