Show Renae Eldredge Takes Lead In Play At B Y.U. Renae Eldredge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Eldredge of Roosevelt, has been selected to play Desdemona in "Othello," Brigham Young University's annual an-nual Shakespearean production May 4 through May 7. Dr. Harold I. Hansen, chairman of the speech and dramatic arts department is directing the production. pro-duction. Robert Struthers is technical tech-nical director, and Junius Hamlin is in charge of special lighting. Shakespeare's great tragedy is the story of Othello, the swarthy Moor who murders his young wife, Desdemona, because he has been duped by the villanious Lago into thinking she has been unfaithful un-faithful to him. Written approximately approxi-mately 350 years ago, "Othello" has been in almost continuous prouction since that time, according accord-ing to Dr. Hansen. Renae is a freshman, majoring in Elementary Education, has participated par-ticipated in the following activities activi-ties while attending BYU: University Uni-versity Chorus, Assembly committee com-mittee for the Uintah Basin Club, Banyan staff. Renae attended Union High School and took part in the following fol-lowing activities there: yearbook editor, many dramatic plays and contests, S.P.C. Club, Science Club and F.H.A. |
