Show C. C. Committees Are Named; Aid City Project Activities of the past month since he was officially installed as president of the Chamber of Commerce were reported Tuesday Tues-day at noon by Howard Harrison, Harri-son, and plans for additional projects were discussed by the board of directors. Among the items of importance was the announcement an-nouncement that Mrs. Irene K. Rupple would continue as executive exec-utive secretary. She had previously pre-viously resigned, but was influenced in-fluenced to remain. In addition to announcing a partial list of standing committees. commit-tees. President Harrison report ed that Mayor Paul Murphy and the city council had requested re-quested the Chamber appoint a special committee to work with them in publicizing and informing inform-ing property owners of the proposed pro-posed special improvement program pro-gram being considered by the city. The project referes to curb, gutter and sidewalks and paving pav-ing several streets in the city. Committees Approved Heading the special committee commit-tee is Cliff Memmott, chairman, with Bennie Schmiett and Ben Turner as members. They will meet with the city and map a program of selling the idea to the people whose property would be affected. Other standing stand-ing committees are as follows: Membership Dr. Paul String-ham, String-ham, chairman, Bob Huish and Lawrell Jensen; Finance Kenneth Ken-neth Aycock, chairman, Victor Brown and James Hall; Public and Business Affairs W. S. (Bill) Murdock, chairman, Cliff Drollinger, Wayne Malin and Bob Huish; Upper Colorado River Development Bennie Schmiett, chairman, E. J. Nixon, Nix-on, Dr. R. V. Larson, Merlin Sullivan and Wayne Malin; Highways and Roads (Net appointed); ap-pointed); Merchants E. J. Nixon, chairman; Lynn Poul-son, Poul-son, Dwain Buchanan, Marrell Wilkins and Mr. Schmiett; Publicity Pub-licity and Tourist Promotion Gordon Harmston, chairman, Pat Roberts and Evans Phillips. Additional committee appointments appoint-ments will be announced by Mr. Harrison at a later date. The group heard a brief report re-port from Merlin Sullivan, who represented Roosevelt City and the Chamber of Commerce, at the recent hearings of the Sen- ate sub-committee on Echo Park Dam. Mr. Aycock reported the recent re-cent boxing tournament held last Thursday and Friday at the Roosevelt Rodeo' Grounds grossed approximately $205. All profits will go to help finance the regular Uintah Basin Industrial Indus-trial Convention. |
