Show Siirfesn Lovely Girls Estfered In 2nd Annuol UBIC Qoeasi Cosrfest Sixteen beautiful young girls from the Uintah Basin l;ave been entered in the second annual UBIC Quuen contest that will be climaxed with a coronation dance on July 17 at Victory Park, or Union High School. According to Mrs. Denny Den-ny Martin, president of the So-cialette So-cialette Club, which is sponsoring sponsor-ing the contest, the girls met Tuesday night to receive dance tickets, which they are selling to assure the success of the dance. Each of the girls who entered enter-ed the contest is being sponsored spon-sored by an organization or a business concern in the Basin. A queen and two attendants will be chosen at the July 17th dance, and will officially reign over the 1954 UBIC which is set for Aug. 4, 5, and 6. Following is the complete list of girls who have entered, along with their sponsoring unit: Maria Pulos, Roosevelt LDS ward; Jolene Robison, Roosevelt county commissioner for four years, and G. B. Workman, Riding Club; Janice Anderton, Socialette; Janet Stevens, Kiwanis; Ki-wanis; Maurine Yack, Culture Club; Judy Hall, Roosevelt Legion Leg-ion Auxiliary; Marilyn Anderson, Ander-son, Altrus, Arlene Johansen, Sherlene Swasey and Lawana Kofford, Boneta; Renae Eld-ridge, Eld-ridge, BPW; Barbara Ray, Amer-can Amer-can Legion. Basin Post No. 64; Joan Funk, Myton American Legion, Wm. R. Sands Post No. 5; Janice Nielson, Modern Drug; Marion Gardner, Fort Duchesne Du-chesne Women's Club, and Shirley Shir-ley Harmon, Myton LDS ward. Last year's winning queen was Miss Joanne Todd, with her attendants being Miss Car-ma Car-ma Hansen and Miss Joyce Hall. Miss Todd was sponsored by the Ballard LDS ward; Miss Hansen by the Altonah American Ameri-can Legion and Miss Hall by the Culture Club. Boxes to deposit votes for Queen candidates are being located lo-cated in downstown stores. |
