Show This Week's RECIPE . . . With canning season now on, housewives are always anxious to get someone's favorite pickle or relish recipe. Mrs. Floyd Labrum Lab-rum stated that the following cucumber relish is the best she has ever eaten can be made with large cucumbers, too. SWEET CUCUMBER RELISH Grind: 12 large cucumbers or 5 quarts 4 large onions 4 green peppers 1 sweet red pepper After the above have been ground together, add 4 tablespoons table-spoons salt and 1 quart of water and boil 15 minutes. Drain off water. Add: 4 teaspoons mustard seed 4 teaspoons celery seed 3 teaspoons tumeric V2 teaspoon cloves 5 scant cups sugar quart vinegar Boil 20 minutes and seal hot. Makes about 5 quarts. |
