Show 805,000 national Guard Armory Okhed For Vernal Word of final approval for the construction of a national guard armory to cost about $85,-000 $85,-000 was announced Wednesday by Chief W0 Ralph E. Rolfe, of Company A, 1334th Combat Engineer Battalion, Utah National Na-tional Guard. Mr. Rolfe said the approval was made by the national guard bureau in Washington, D. C, and the announcement was made through Brig. Gen. Maxwell Max-well E. Rich, adjutant general for the state of Utah. Plans and specifications for the building will be submitted immediately for approval by the National Guard Bureau. Upon Up-on this approval construction can begin this fall, Mr. Rolfe said. Present plans call for a one unit armory with an overall dimension di-mension of 65 by 128 ft. This will house the offices, equipment equip-ment storage and drill hall. The building will be located at 2nd South and 5th East Sts. on a plot that had previously been acquired for this purpose. The present guard unit was activated Aug. 29, 1949, and has a strength of 48 enlisted men. It is commanded by Capt. Robert Rob-ert W. Johnston. |
