Show BP17 Club Stresses membership At Monday Meeting The August BPW meeting was well attended Monday night at the Frontier Grill, with thirty members and guests participating participat-ing in the dinner event. The committee in charge of arrangements included J. O. Orser, Elva McLea and Ida Harrison, Har-rison, with Mrs. Orser presiding. presid-ing. Mrs. Harrison talked briefly brief-ly on membership, explaining why all eligible business and professional women should join B. P. W. Prospective members we're introduced. Lurrine Allen, a member, was also one of the speakers, her subject being, "What Is Holding Hold-ing Women Back?" Musical selections included two piano solos by Larry Wilson, and two vocal solos by Janice Anderton, acocmpanied by Mr. Wilson. Miss Anderton is being sponsored sponsor-ed by the Roosevelt BPW Club for the Miss Duchesne ' County contest. Corresponding with the eve-j ning membership theme were placecards inscribed with the watchword, "How Many More for '54?" Gladioli, yellow mums and yellow roses were beautifully arranged for table decorations. Two hostesses, Lenore Hutch-ings, Hutch-ings, president, and Adeline Logan, and an alternate, Kate Smith, were named to represent the local club at the Regional Western BPW Conference, to be held in Salt Lake City from Aug. 26 to Aug. 30. Ellen Raw-lings, Raw-lings, district chairman, announced an-nounced that arrangements have been made to have a Ute Indian dance and program taken to Salt Lake City from here, which will be a highlight of the closing clos-ing banquet Saturday night. Sponsoring this feature will be the Roosevelt, Vernal and Duchesne Du-chesne BPW Clubs. |
