Show Uintah Queen Wins "Basin Sweetheart" Title Miss Monta Rae Caldwell, Uintah's Sweeheart candidate, was crowned "Miss Uintah Basin Ba-sin Sweeheart" at the annual Sweetheart Ball, held at Union High School last Saturday night. Candidates from the other oth-er four' high schools were as follows: Miss Maria Pulos, Union, Un-ion, Miss Carol Ann Brady, Duchesne; Du-chesne; Miss Myrna Newman, Tabiona: and ' Miss Sherral Ames, Altamont. A panel of five judges, one from each area represented by a candidate, was secured to make the queen selection, which was based on poise, personality and general appearance. Student body president, Bob Murray, of Uintah High School, crowned Miss CaldwsU, and the queen and other candidates candi-dates were presented with gifts from Miss LuAnn Morrill, president pres-ident of the Associated Student Council, who sponsors the Sweetheart Ball annually. The queen was seated in a beautifully draped throne, having hav-ing as the background a huge heart. Valentine decorations bedecked be-decked the dance hall throughout. through-out. A floor show was presented by members from the Duchesne High School, under the direction direc-tion of KaraLyn Smith,v and dancing to Tal Wardle's oches-tra oches-tra was enjoyed. The annual social school event was deemed one of the most successful yet staged, with much credit due the Student Council president and her officers. |
