Show JR. HIGH SCHOOL NEWS BETTER ENGLISH WEEK Better English Week was observed ob-served at the Roosevelt Junior High . School the past two weeks. Seventh grade sections, Six and Eight, participated, wearing ribbons bearing the slogans, "Speak Well" and "Use Better English." If their classmates found them using incorrect in-correct English they were reminded re-minded of the fact and relieved of their ribbons. BETTY BURGESS, BUR-GESS, from Section Six, was declared the winner and received re-ceived a box of candy and CONNIE CON-NIE FENN from Section Eight was deemed the winner. In the eighth grade, Section Seven and Section Eight competed. com-peted. NEIL ANDERTON won the delicious box of fudge. MRS. ASHTON TALKS Mrs. Hazel Ashton, Woman's Chairman for Civil Defense for Duchesne County, talked to the Civics and Social Science class- es of Mrs. Riggles, Mrs. Hutch-' Hutch-' ings and Mr. Doutre. We en-joyer en-joyer Mrs. Ashton's lecture very much. FASHION SHOW To be held during Girls' Day is a Fashion Show. Plans are being laid by the Home Economic Girls,' under the direction of Mrs. Buxton, adviser. Date has not yet been set. DANCE AND GAME HELD The student body dance and game, held Feb. 5, were very successful. Nearly the entire student body attended and participated. par-ticipated. The third game played be- tween Roosevelt Junior High School and Union High School's Ninth grade ended in defeat for the Kittens of Union. They lost by a score of 51 to 43. High point man for RJHS was Kenneth Ken-neth Benson, with eighteen points. Horrocks, of Union scored eleven points. The RJHS team came to the fore again Feb. 6, when they played Union's ninth grade team prior to the Manti-Union game. They won with a final score of 35-20. We're very proud of our team they haven't lost a game yet this year hope they continue their good work. |
