Show Plan Dinner Fleeting . . . . Gordon Harmston Is President Of Chamber Of Commerce Gordon Harmston, co-owner and manager of the Frontier Grill Cafe, Tuesday night was elevated from vice-president to president of the newly formed Roosevelt Chamber of Commerce. Com-merce. He replaces Tommy Gab-bert Gab-bert whose resignation was forced due to his transfer to Tooele by Safeway, Inc. He had been manager here for the past nearly two years. At a special meeting; of tha Board of Directors, held at the Frontier Grill, Mr.' Gabbert announced an-nounced his transfer and tendered ten-dered his resignation. He waj elected last November as the Chamber's first president, and was re-elected in January to complete a full year. Named to fill the vice-presidency vacancy was Cliff Me;n-mott, Me;n-mott, local publisher, who had been serving as a member of '.he executive committee. Resignation of Mr. Gabbert and election of Mr. Memmott ;reated two vacancies, one on the board and one on the executive execu-tive committee. Howard Harmston Harm-ston was chosen to serve the remainder of 1952 as a director, direc-tor, and E J. Nixon was select-id select-id to replace the new vice-president on the executive commit tee. In addition to the business of reorganization, the board of directors di-rectors completed plans for tho first annual dinner-meeting of the Chamber, to be held at the toosevelt LDS Stake House on Saturday, April 12. The new vice-president is general chairman chair-man of the dinner-meeting and reported that Ames K. Bagley, executive secretary of the Utali Manufacturers Association in .Salt Lake, would probably re-ilace re-ilace Gus Backman as speaker. The latter will be out of .the state on that date. (Continued on back page) Gordon Harmston (Continued from page 1) Under the direction of Howard How-ard Harmston, a concentrated campaign to encourage all members mem-bers of the Chamber and those not yet affiliated to attend the meeting, which will be for partners part-ners of the members. Tickets are being sold by the directors, and anyone who might be missed miss-ed by the committee can secure reservations at the Roosevelt Standard office. In charge of the program will be Bennie Schmiett, and Mr. Nixon is chairman of the committee com-mittee on dinner arrangements. The Roosevelt Second Ward Relief Re-lief Society will prepare and serve the dinner. Invitations are being extended Vernal, Price and Heber City Chambers of Commerce to send delegations to the dinner-meeting. j |
