Show Women's softball party w The Park City Recreation Department, in an attempt to m- ject some enthusiasm into the women's softball league, has planned a party for anyone interested in playing women's f I softball this summer. It will be held after the umpire's clinic I I on May 19 (about 4 p.m.) and will be sponsored by the II Recreation Department, and th-j Just Arnie's and Sneakers j softball teams. I I Steve Haugen, director of the Recreation Department, said, "We're trying to put the word out to the women of the I I area about the league. We want it to be on a par with the 1 men's league." H He said the dominance of Just Arnie's the last few years 1 1 has discouraged other teams from becoming involved. But Haugen contends there are many women who would play if CJ only they could find a team. "! Haugen said the Recreation Department will also sponsor i-1 a preseason women's softball clinic covering the basics of f softball. Players from Just Arnie's and Sneakers will run the ; i one-day clinic. 1 The May 19 party will offer free food and beer. Haugen said - the Recreation Department is providing the beer, while Just 'j Arnie's and Sneakers are providing the grub. 1 1 Little League notes 1 4 The schedule for the opening of the Little League season j I has been moved back. The season was set to begin in mid- l j June, but has been changed to mid-July. That will give the city time to seed mulch the field to improve the quality. -A Also, the Recreation Department is looking for sponsors of - Little League teams. Sponsors will buy uniforms for the team yi members, as well as pick up registration expenses and other tabs. Any business looking to get involved with local youth ! I and sponsor a team should contact the Recreation Depart- M ment at 649-9461 . Sponsorships are tax deductible. l- ' I I j Freestylers organize , The Park City Freestyle Ski Team will hold its organiza- ? tional meeting for the '84'85 ski season this Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Park City Resort Plaza.
