Show Host Families Sought for Scandinavian Students American host families are being sought for 2 Scandinavian Scandi-navian high school students from Sweden for the 1982-83 school year. The Program is sponsored by American Scandinavian Student Ex-;hange Ex-;hange (ASSE), a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, operating under the auspices of the Swedish Ministry of Education and officially approved ap-proved by the U. S. International Inter-national Communication Agency. The Scandinavian students, ages 16 and 17, are fluent in English and are anxious to learn about the American culture through living with a family and attending a local nigh school. Students are thoroughly screened in Scandinavia Scan-dinavia for suitable character, charac-ter, academic performance and dedication to program goals. Each student is covered by comprehensive medical insurance and brings hisher own picket money. The ASSE organization orovides a volunteer Representative Repre-sentative in the area to attend to the student's welfare and assist the host family with any problems which may occur while their student is in residence. The program provides American Families with a great opportunity to learn about another culture and language, make new friendships friend-ships both here and abroad while sharing their interests and values with a young person from another country. The students arrive in late August, 1982 and return home to Scandinavia, in late June, 1983. ASSE is also seeking American High school students, stu-dents, ages 16 to 18, interested in living with a Scandinavian family, attending atten-ding school and learning about the lands and people of Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark. Interested students should have a good academic record, references and a desire to experience Scandinavia through a warm and giving volunteer family. All Scandinavian families are thoroughly screened. Like the American program, a volunteer ASSE representative representa-tive will look after the student to insure hisher success and welfare throughout the program. Programs for American young people to Scandinavia are available for summer (6 weeks) and the full school year. American Scandinavian Student Exchange (ASSE) is the official Swedish high school exchange program in the United States operating under the auspices of the Swedish Ministry of Education. Educa-tion. The ASSE program is officially designated as an exchangevisitor program by the U.S. International Communication Com-munication Agency.
