Show KAC Fashion Show March 26 The Kimball Art Center Guild is sponsoring a fashion show and luncheon featuring clothes made by the Mary M. Atwater Weaver's Guild. The hour-long show, to be held March 26 at noon in the Kimball Art Center's main gallery, will include handwo-ven handwo-ven jackets, vests, tops, and accessory pieces. The Weaving Guild, formed in the 1950's. is named after Mary M. Atwater, who is often referred to as the mother of American hand-weaving. hand-weaving. Atwater spent the last 10 years of her life in Salt Lake during which time she established the guild. Becky Juhlian, guild member mem-ber and fashion show chair- ' man explains, "The guild has 50 active members and we do a lot of service work and demonstrations. We've been putting on fashion shows for eight years. The guild has strict requirements for their work including all visible stitching to be done by hand." Kate Woolstenhulme will serve as the show's commentator. commen-tator. Carmen Jones, model- ing consultant, is coordinating coordinat-ing Park City junior and high school girls for modeling the woven fashions. Most of the items will be on sale after the show. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased at the door. |
