Show PCHS Selects Sterling Scholars Park City High School has - filled seven of the twelve Sterling Scholar spots this year. Those honored are Stephanie Burnett for Eng-list, Eng-list, Denise White for Math-matics, Math-matics, Nicolas Caravaglia for Social Sciences, Wade Wallin for Speech and Drama, Robin Friedman for Visual Arts, Diane Von Clasen for Music and Lisa Simmons for Homemaking. A V . -' for scholarships sponsored by the Deseret News, KSL, and Utah's colleges and universities in conjunction with the State Board of Education. Larson says he feels especially espe-cially confident about Park City's chances. "We have an exceptionally talented group of students this year, ' he says. The students now must prepare portfolios and present pre-sent them in a special interview before a panel of judges at Roosevelt's L'nion High School on April 29. The awards will be presented that same evening. - j- , - V f ; I - - ' " Stephanie Burnett School vice-principal Kent Larson explained one of the students, Denise White, actually qualified in both science and math but under contest rules could only compete in one catagory. Winners in each of the categories receive a full-four year tuition waiver plus a $200 cash prize. Two runner-ups runner-ups in each category receive the same scholarship prize and a $100 cash prize. The five Park City seniors will be competing against students from Rich, Morgan, Summit, Daggett, Duchesne, Uinta and Wasatch Counties v4.- : W;. - ' ! i J! Denise White The students applied for the scholarship contest and were selected by a special faculty committee. The committee, however, was unable to fill the five subject areas of science, foreign language, vocational education, business busi-ness education and general scholarship. Nicolas Caravaglia .
