Show 'Tunnel Vision' Behind KPCW Stand "After thinking about it I've decided I was a victim of tunnel vision," commented Park City High School principal Jack Dozicr to the school board Tuesday night as he explained why he had supported the regional principal's prin-cipal's decision to charge radio stations $200 to broadcast broad-cast school games. Regional school principals complained of poor gate receipts ai school games this year and ihey blamed it on broadcasts of the games. Dozier said he had felt that was also the cause but he says now "the benefits outweigh any possible losses and since the decision was reached without any substantiating sub-stantiating figures, I'm not sure now whether the broadcasts broad-casts may actually be helpful." help-ful." The board decided to draft a letter in support of rescinding rescind-ing the fee and Dozier said he would do his best to convince the principals to change their minds. Park City's KPCW, broadcasts the games but makes no profit from it since they are a non-profit radio station and unable to sell commercial time during the games. A $200 fee could effectively eliminiate local coverage of the games according to station general manager Blair Fuelner. |
