Show The Women's Room By Kot McCutchan The following is exerpted from "The Daily Planet Almanac 1982"; it's an article entitled "Surviving the Eighties" by Ken Freed: "The 1980's may make it or break it for this troubled planet spinning through space. ..steps away from complete disaster must be taken now. Yet such steps must also be toward something else. We need an achievable destination and a clear map showing how to get there. In the midst of over burdened systems breaking down on all sides, a small but growing world community - connected by computers and more conventional communication modes -are busy generating for combining diverse elements into a unified whole. Some of the tools include a network of resource people, a comprehensive reference library and a computer with word processing capabilities. Making a leap of faith that we will indeed survive this decade, futurists predict as much social change in the next 25 years as the world has witnessed since the Middle Ages. To cope with this "future shock" will require fundamental transformations in the attitudes we hold toward ourselves, each other and the world around us. The needed shit pivots on our attitude devoting energy to expanding awareness of the spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical aspects of our natures, and creating a balance between them... The choice is ours. We can buy into the prophecies of doom and continue irrationally reacting to events we see as beyond our control - or we can strive for self-mastery and project visionary plans into the future. Our thoughts and deeds today determine the reality of tomorrow." |
