Show OPENING OF COUNTY SCHOOLS I County Superintendent of Schools W. N. Fetlerson states today tbatthc public Fchools will open In every district dis-trict of Weber county September 19. r.nd that everything is in readiness for the event. Present conditions point to a successful suc-cessful year la the schools, and the superintendent feels that the best possible pos-sible results will be obtained. Mr. Petterson has had his coat off ever fince his appointment to the position of superintendent, making ready 'for the school work before him. Preliminary Prelim-inary steps for the. opening of the schools are nearly completed ?md when the bell rings August 19, there will be something started In the "little "lit-tle red school houses" in the rural district:!. ' I The list of teachers for the year has not yet been completed, but It I., anticipated that'at the meeting of the hoard of education next Saturday the list will be completed, and handed hand-ed to the press for publication. Most of the teachers have hern decided ui on, but there- Is yet indecision regarding regard-ing tho employment of somu of the applicants. The Weber County Teachers institute insti-tute will be held September 15, lG nnd 17 nnd all the teachers arc expected ex-pected to be In attendance. The place for holding the Institute has i.ot been determined, but the superintendent super-intendent states that be will bo abl to announce the place within the next few days. This meeting, coming Immediately Im-mediately pi lor t,o the opening of the schools, it is evicted that matters of "great importance regarding y.hc government and work of the schools lor the year will receive more than passing attention. Interesting oduea-,. ttonal questions will also be consld ered. Eveny teacher employed by thq county board of education must ho at the neetlng. Superintendent Petterson has re-ctntl re-ctntl visited nearly all of the school districts of the county and he states that tho parents and children are f-.aking ready for the opening of the schools, and that thoy arc earnestU awaiting the "ringing of the old school bell." The buildings are all In good condition, the two new houses, one at Kden, the other at Pleasant View are nearing comple-ticn-and will be ready for tie at the ipcnlng of school: Books and other supplies are cither on hand or have been ordered and are on their way to OgJen, Fehool vards are being cleared of accumulated rubbish, the Interior of the school houses are being be-ing renovated and placed In readiness readi-ness for the year's work. |
