Show I AFTER THE SIGNING. Now for a right-about and a forward march. Germany has a big task to perform a bigger undertaking than any other people but the Germans, by resolving to faithfully carry out their agreement, can overcome their handicaps and convert misfortunes mis-fortunes into blessings. If they display the right spirit, and prove by their conduct that they have given up the predatory ambitions of the past, the Teutons will be accepted as a part of the brotherhood of man and assisted in their struggle to do right. Their leaders, who . involved civilization in so much misery, should receive the sharp blows of reprimand, and the higher in authority the greater should be the punishment inflicted as a warning to other scheming bloodthirsty blood-thirsty conspirators against the peace of nations. For the first time, the men who made war and issued the commands com-mands for the troops to move, are to be tried as the principals in an awful tragedy, and no one outside their intimate associates and admirers will shed a tear if all the guilty militarists are executed. |
