Show WATER WASTAGE IN THIS CITY. 1 Complaints and suggestions as to the water shortage are pouring in on The Standard. A woman taxpayer calls up to ask why the city should be concerned whether her hours of watering are devoted to her lawn or her war garden! She said there should be equality of service, or allotment of water, with the people given the privilege I of doing as they pleased with their allotment. If an hour and a halt I ds too long, then cut down to an hour. Another said there were great leaks in one of the mains on the I tench. . i, i A third reported five violations of the sprinkling rules on his block at an early hour this morning. The city authorities should be given the co-operation of the citizens ! of Ogden in overcoming the present water difficulties, i It is the conscientious duty of every family to live up to the regu lations which are put out for the purpose of conserving the water j supply. The Standard states, without fear of successful contradiction, that there is more water wastage in Ogden than in any other city in the Umted States. Those in charge of the system state that Og-den's Og-den's water consumption is that of a city of 1 50,000 population. We venture the statement that a big percentage of the taps throughout I Ogden are left open during the 24 hours of the day. No place, with a water supply other than unlimited, could hold up under the drain. The people must begin to discipline themselves in this period of water shortage by doing the right thing for the sake of being fair and I honorable to each other. When you hear water running to waste, shut off the faucet. Now is the time for fair play all around. |
