Dike and Miss Anne Morgan have lived among tho refugees refu-gees and have accomplished such splendid results in rehabilitating tho destitute families, that General Potain wrote the letter of commendation which I enclose. "Tho French government has twico decorated tho directors of this committee, com-mittee, and our organization has been requested by tho French government to establish similar centers in the Somme and Alsace. Tho Standard was doubtful of the merits of the tour until assured that the countess had the endorsement qf our government. There are so many of these war activities that suspicion is aroused when somo now appeal Is made for aid. As a general proposition, proposi-tion, tho efforts at aiding our allies should be centered in the great war work and tho expenditures necessary should come out of- the -war chest in Washington. Too many war aid societies, so-cieties, with constant drumming for funds, will get on tho nerves of the people. However, Countess de Bryas, wo are informed, is a most talented woman wom-an and represents a most worthy cause and we urge that she bo given a warm welcome. |
