Show DUK5 m PENALTY 111 OGDEN CITY POLICE COURT Three drunks were arraigned In police po-lice court today and, although they did not get their intoxicants in the city, they were violators of the new state law and city ordinance, so they were sentenced to pay the penalty provided for their offense. Leonard Boyle was given 50or the alternative. He was before the court days ago and pleaded not guilty, but changed the plea today, assorting that he was guilty as charged. Frank Russell Rus-sell got his whiskey in Rock Springs, Wyo. When arrested by Deputy Sheriffs Sher-iffs R. H. Soule and Ray West, he stated stat-ed to them that he had beat them to L "I got you, Skinny," he said, when approached by Soule and placed under arrest. "You ain't got a- thing on me. I brought it inside of me and beat you to it." In spite of the fact, Judge Barker decided that Boyle should spend the next thirty days in the county jail. Joe Fink got his liquor at Rock River, Riv-er, Wyo. Being sick, he said a man offered of-fered him two drinks to alleviate the pains and the two drinks so intoxicated intoxicat-ed him that when the arresting officers, offi-cers, the same who arrested Boyle, met up with Fink, he was in such a state of inebriacy that they had to drag him from the union depot to the police auto. He will also be required to serve thirty days in the county jail. Some question arose as to the meaning of the ordinance concerning sentences in drunk cases. Judge Barker decided that he can either impose a fine of $50 or fifty days, or a straight fine of thirty days, which is the minimum penalty in drunk cases. |
