Show WAR BULLETINS . British on Straight Line. WITH THE BRITISH ARMIES IN FLANDERS AND FRANCE, Friday, Oct 18. (Router's) British troops held an almost straight north and south line between Douai and Lille this afternoon. The line ran through Ostrl-court Ostrl-court to Thumerch to Wahagnles to La Beuvreirie to Marthinsart to Has to Vendoville to west of Ronchin to Lille. Capture of Douai Completed. LONDON, Friday, Oct 18. Con-corning Con-corning operations near Douai tho official of-ficial statement says: "The troops of the First army under command of General Home have completed com-pleted the capture of Douai and have made progress east or the town. On this front wo have now reached the general line of Marquette-en-Ostre-vant, Masy, Bersee, Tretin, Salnghin and Ascq. "North of Ascq, the troops of General Gen-eral Plumer's Second army are east of Robaix and Turcoing." Pershing Reports Gains. WITH THE AMERICAN FORCES NORTHWEST OF-VERDUN, Oct. 19. 1 p. m, (By the Associated Press.) General Pershing's troops today continued con-tinued to improve their positions in. the region of Banthcvllle and the wood of Bantheville. There are some indications indica-tions that the Germans are planning n withdrawal to what are believed to be new lines of defenses a few miles in tho rear. This possible retirement of the Germans Ger-mans is believed to be due to the menacing position of the Americans at theNjdge of the Krlemhllde line below Landres-st-St. Georges where General Pershing's men are steadily advancing. |
