Show "MORDY" BROWN IS DOING HIS BIT TO CAN KAISER CHICAGO, Oct. 19. Although he is handicapped by the loss of fingers, Mordecai Brown, one-time famous Cub hurler, like hundreds of other baseball base-ball players, is doing his bit toward winning the war for Uncle Sara. The three-fingered marvel is working in an aviation plant in Indianapolis. Every day Brown dons a pair of overalls over-alls and scrapes crank cases for Liberty Liber-ty motors. Brown, who is well off financially, fi-nancially, is above tho draft age, but is anxious to help win the war. A : largo part of the famous hurler's savings sav-ings has been invested in Liberty I bonds. |
