Miss Arline Parry and Miss Hazel Stohl entertained at dinner Saturday in honor of Amos Hatch who leaves tonight for American Lake, Wash, with the Box Elder draftees. The Red Cross society of Tremon-ton Tremon-ton is shipping a lot of clothing which has been prepared by the ladies of this honorable society. The Home Economics eluhs were entertained by Mrs. C. O Scott on Friday of last week. About twenty members were present Mrs William Facer left for Willard to spend a week or two with friends. The Red Cross Carnival which was celebrated last Saturday here In Garland Gar-land was a great success. Commencing Commenc-ing at 11 o'clock p. m., serenades were given by the Garland brass band and l after several numbers were played the people gathered in the basement of the Garland tabernacle, where a hot dinner was served. About 500 people partook of the excellent delicacies prepared pre-pared by the committee for cooking. After dinner a free dance for the children chil-dren was givon in the Garland opera house. A parade, bazaar and auction sale were the features of the day and a Jitney dance at the Palace in the ovrning. Everybody turned out to make the Red Cross drive a big success suc-cess and the cash derived from the affair was $1,030 dollars, all for the Red Cross. A most prominent event of the week was the marriage of Miss Gladys Smith and J. Lewis Bingham, which took place Thursday of last Week. They will make their home in Garland Gar-land Mrs. Leo Hanson of Logan is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Shaw. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Day have returned re-turned to their home In Bountiful after af-ter an extended visit here with relatives. rela-tives. Mr. and Mrs. George Bowen of Hol-broock, Hol-broock, Idaho, are visiting here with their son, Arthur Bowen and family. Mr. and Mrs. Moriah D. Evans of Spanish Fork returned from a few days' visit here with their children. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bowen have had as their guest, Miss Esther Bowen of Mendon. Cache County. Mrs. William King is visiting her daughter Thelma, who is attending the Weber Normal college in Ogden. Mrs M. D Evans returned home after af-ter a visit to Salt Lake and Spanish Fork. Mrs. Clarence E. Smith has returned from a visit with relatives in Davis county. Mrs. E. Petersen is home after a visit with friends in Bear River City. Miss Viola Peterson has returned from Malad City, Idaho, where she spent part of the winter. Mr. and Mrs. H. Davis left for Bur-ley, Bur-ley, Idaho, to make their future home. oo |
