Show AN EXPRESSION FROM GERMANS. When the British coutner attacked at Villers Bretonneux on Thursday, they captured a number of young Herman Her-man officers who expressed disgust for the higher German command. A British officer asked a German lieutenant to explain why the German submarines had sunk only one American Ameri-can transport. "That is what we would like to know," the youngster replied. When questioned as to what he thought the reason for all the world being against the Germans, he gave the reply. The officer said the Germans Ger-mans had been wondering about these very problems and others of similar nature for some time. But the Germans at Home never allow al-low themselves to be seriously afflicted afflict-ed with conscience. All they demand is that the military forces bring a victorious vic-torious peace, with ample indemnities and great slices of territory. They are little concerned as to the methods whether they be of a high standard or low and brutal, if in the end Germany Ger-many gains a victory. |
