Show NORTH OGDEN BOYS 11 HANDS OF OFFICERS OF THELAW E. A. Fenton and Ivan Daniels. 17-year 17-year old youths of North Ogden, were arrested yesterday aiternoon at Lay-ton Lay-ton where they were overtaken by two motorcycle officers of the Salt Lake police force as they were drivmg to Ogden in an automobile alleged to have been stolen from Arthur McFar lane, manager of the Parrott Coal company com-pany of Salt Lake and brother of John McFarlane of Ogden. Officers of the Ogden police force arrived on the scene at Layton a few minutes after the Salt Lake officers had placed the boys under arrest. The Ogden police force was notified by the Zion office to look out for the boys, as the car had been missed a short time ifter it had been taken Detective Oram Syphers, Sergeant J. H. Kelli-her Kelli-her and Desk Sergeant George Gary were taken out on the road by John McFarlane who had been called by his i brother and told to look out for the I car McFarlane called at the police I station just as the call for Salt Lake came in and the officers went in his car. When the party reached Layton thev found the Salt Lake officers with the car and the two boys. The boys were taken to Salt Lake to be turned over to the Juvenilo court there. They told the police officers that they took the -car in order to have a ride home. According to the motorcycle officers, they rode over the highway at a rate , of 75 miles an hour to overtake the boys, who had a start of about ten miles. It was said that the alleged theft was one of the boldest, the car being taken from almost under the i nose of the owner, who was sitting not i more than 20 feet away when it was ; appropriated by the two boys. oo |
