Show 'lEUHflfflr IW FIRED By IE PEOPLE Speaking for hundreds of other progressive pro-gressive young men of Ogden, Attorney Attor-ney Roscoe C Gwilllam said today: "Mobilization of our food resources As, indeed, vitally important at this time. The safety committee is doing noble work. After talking with a largo number of young men I am convinced that the state should use all of its convicts, and the counties and cities all of their able-bodied prisoners in raising food crops on tho neglected lands. "The young men also aro convinced of the necessity of postponing indefinitely indef-initely creating new paving projects in Ogden city. This isn't tho time for paving, for many reasons. "President Wilson's plan of distributing distrib-uting the cost of the war so as to leave a minimum debt on the future should be sufficient warning to city commissions. Why should Ogden place an extra burden upon its citizens in these paving projects? We can do without paving, but we cannot do without food." Attorney John C Davis said: "The city should not only furnish water free for gardens, but should buy and distribute seed free of cost. I have a large garden place which I will gladly allow the city prisoners to de-velop de-velop as a garden, the produce being sold at cost to the public. Many others will do the same." The city commissioners say these 1 ideas are impracticable because the water supply is insufficient for the development de-velopment of many gardens. oo |
