Show F EXPLOSION KILLS 120 IN CHESTER CHESTER, Pa., April 12.- Although ' ordnance experts and chemists spent the day and evening analyzing shell f, fragments and black powder found at ; the scene of last Tuesday's explosion ' at the Eddystone Ammunition cor- poration's plant near here, no an- nouncement of their possible discoveries discov-eries was made tonight. Officials representing federal, state, municipal and company inquiries admitted ad-mitted tonight that the exact cause may never be determined. The complete com-plete destruction of the shrapnel-loading shrapnel-loading plant and the mental confusion of the survivors are stumbling blocks In the way of the Investigation. Several arrests of men found loitering loit-ering about the scene of the explosion explo-sion were made today, but none is considered con-sidered important. Ten thousand dollars has been collected col-lected as a chief fund for needy survivors sur-vivors and dependents of those who were killed. The funeral of the unidentified dead will be held on Saturday. The munitions muni-tions plant will close for three days as a mark of respect to the victims. The latest reckoning of the known dead was 120. Of this number fifty-two fifty-two have been identified. More than fifty are still reported missing, and the hospitals and armory reported a total of fifty-two injured still receiving receiv-ing treatment. |
