Show YELLQWSTOWE ENTRANCE 10 BE OPENED Traveling Public Will Be Privileged Privi-leged Travel Through the Great Park Next Summer The Highway From Lander Lan-der to Be Improved Under Way for the New Movement. LANDER, Wyo., March 24. "The front gate to America's largest playground play-ground is to be opened to the traveling travel-ing public during the coming summer. We have made definite plans and preparations for the improvement of the highway leading from Lander into the southern entrance of the Yollow-stono Yollow-stono Park, so that it will be accessible accessi-ble to motorists this season." This is the promise of P. C. Spencer, secretary secre-tary of the Wyoming Good Roads association, as-sociation, who has his main office at Lander, Wyo. In connection with tho opening of the southern entrance to tho Yellowstone Yellow-stone Park, we have also made plans for a short cut from Denver to the park to bo known as the Denver-Yellowstone Highway. This new tourist thoroughfare will run from Denver to the park by tho way of Boulder, Fort Collins, Tie Siding, Laramie, Rawlins, Lander, Dubois and the Jackson Hole. "The organization and advertisement advertise-ment of tho Denver-Yellowstono highway high-way has been taken up with the motor mo-tor clubs of Denver, Laramie, Rawlins Raw-lins and Lander. An initial tour is being planned from Denver to the park over tho now road next summer, and all four of tho motor clubs mentioned men-tioned have signified their willingness to participate. "We havo a highway and a Yellowstone Yellow-stone Park entrance, which is bound to appeal to the traveling puu'ic. It is considerably shorter than any of the present park routes, follows closely to the Rocky Mountain range, which affords af-fords an abundance of good fishing, fresh water and unsurpassed scenery. Those who went over the entire road last summer stato that it is in first-class first-class condition with the exception of a few places, which are to be improved improv-ed this spring. In fact, it Is ono of the most attractive tourist trunk lines In the entire Rocky Mountain region, and ono which Is going to meet with popular approval from the start. "Headquarters for organization and development work for the present will be at Lander. We expect to maintain an information bureau here during the entire season. Tho American Automobile Automo-bile association, the Lincoln Highway association, the National Highway association, as-sociation, the Blue Book and a number of olher prominent road enthusiasts, havo expressed their interost in the Denver-Yellowstone highway, and have offered to co-operate in every manner possible to make it a real success." The above interview to the Denver Post is the first public statement which has been given out relative to tho opening of the "Front Gate" to the Yellowstone park, and tho organ-zation organ-zation of the Denver-Yellowstone highway. Many plans nre now under way for the promotion of the new movement and developments aro expected ex-pected in rapid order. |
