Show England Mas 200,000 Less Autos Since 14 ' The total number of motor vehicles, including automobiles, trucks and motorcycles, mo-torcycles, in Great Britain has fallen over 200.000 since the beginning of the war In 1911. Automobiles .have decreased nearly 50per cenl. The" total to-tal number of motor vehicles in 1911 was 536,717, divided 'into 281,175 cars, 233.3S1 motorcycles and 22.191 trucks In 1915 this totil fell 240,000, the number num-ber being 300,626, composed of 137,066 cars, 147,904 motorcycles and 15,056 trucks. The 1916 total picked up about 31,000. According to the latest census, the total is 331,897, including 150,249 cars, 160,290 motorcycles and 21,358 trucks. It Is probable that the marked decrease in the total number of registered regis-tered motor vehicles was due to the wholesale commandeering for government govern-ment purposes which went on in the latter part of 1914, to the actidn of many ownerswho laid up their cars for the duration of the war, and to the voluntary vol-untary offering of vehicles by their owners for national service, whether in England or abroad. rr |
