The residents of this section of Weber county are utilizing with all possible energy, tho opportunity given by the spring weather now prevalent, in the preparation of soil for different crops and the seeding of land has already been started in some localities. This work will bo continued steadily until a much larger area of land that usual will be made ready for grain and vegetable vege-table and fruit harvests. The extra acreage is to be planted on account of the probable unprecedented demand for products of the farm, caused by war conditions. In North Ogden, there is no exception ex-ception to the general wav,e of war enthusiasm that is now spreading over the nation. A number of young men of the town have already enlisted and others are preparing to take the same course, until our ration is fully furnished. furn-ished. Joseph E. Ward, formerly a resident of Ogden and at one time bishop of the Liberty ward, visited friends in North Ogden early in the week, while on his return to his homo in Preston, Idaho, from Salt Lake City, where he attended the general conference of the Mormon church. One of the most pleasing social events held in North Ogden this year was held Tuesday evening at the handsome hand-some residence of Mrs. Stena Montgomery, Mont-gomery, whon the ward Primary Association Asso-ciation officers, ever ready to send a ray of sunshine into the hearts of others, oth-ers, surprised Mrs. Montgomery and gave honor to her in a social way, as an appreciation for her long service in the association. She was counselor to President Lillian Ferrin from May 17, 1907, until her elevation to the presidency, presi-dency, March 24, 1912, and she held the higher position until October 18, 1916, when ill health forced her to resign. re-sign.
