Show OR. T. B. BESTTf At the meeting of the Parents-Teachers' Parents-Teachers' association of the Madison school district, held yesterday after, noon, Dr. T. B. Beatty of the state board of health brought to tho attention atten-tion of the association tho fact that several of the school buildings in. Ogden Og-den are in a deplorable condition as to safety and sanitation. His address followed an inspection of the Five Points, Mound Fort and other schools, in company with City Health Inspector Inspec-tor George Shorten. "Measures should be taken immediately immed-iately to remedy the conditions at these schools, Dr. Beatty stated, a3 Too much precaution can not be taken tak-en against fire. An outbreak occurring occur-ring In a school far removed from . fire protection when the latter is pro- flK vided by a department centrally lo- ym cated in a city generally results in a disaster. Either the building Is badly bad-ly damaged or wholly destroyed and then there Is always a probability of loss of life." Continuing, the state health qfficial also said that it is imperatively necessary neces-sary to observe all rules of sanitation and declared that this question, in regard re-gard to the Ogden schools, would be taken up with the state board of health and that recommendations for Improvements would be approved and put into effect |
