ENEMY PUT TO FLIGHT Intense Fighting on Carso Pateau Austrians Stopped by Rapid Fire Retreat With Heavy Loss. Rome, Nov. 1G, via Paris, Nov. 17. 12:05 a. m. Tho following official statement was issued today at the headquarters of tho Italian general staff: "In the Adige valley during the morning of the 14th we enlarged and straightened the position we occupy on the steep hill which slopes down from Zugna Tora toward Rovereto on the left bank of the Leno de- Vallersa Torrent. Tho enemy immediately opened a violent artillery fire from Monte Ghella and launched an Infantry Infan-try attack, but was repulsed. In the Padola valley enemy detachments trying to approach our positions were beaten off leaving a number of prisoners pris-oners In our hands.
